It looks really cool, but I had no idea that was there. I chose the MSI however mainly because the reviews were so similar but this board seemed like it had more of the features i wanted (and now probably can't live without).Īlso, there wasn't a picture of it in Neweggs item listing (there probably needs to be), and so, I was totally unaware that there was an LED line-string thing that separated all of the sound advertised sound blaster/cinema stuff. The Z97-Pro (?) has great ratings however, and is probably the comparable board here. I went with this mobo though because Asus's Z97 offerings were a little more paltry in my opinion, and skimped on the PCIe slots, which was pretty important to me. I'm a long time customer of their's, mainly because their mobos have always been reliable and I have a certain level of 'trust' in the brand. Not too big of an issue, but it is weird. It will randomly boot or wake up for no reason in the middle of the night. It may just be me, but this mobo has some funky behavior when it comes to shutdowns and sleep. When you arrange your boot items, it may best for newcomers to just leave UEFI items out.ģ. The BIOS is super nice, but the included UEFI stuff is hard to figure out for someone new to all of that. The red-black blocks around the cpu are made of metal, which is nice, as I assume they absorb a decent amount of heat, but the design has some sharp edges, and can make installing a cpu sort of difficult. Having the dual bios (blue/green) is incredibly convenient if you mess upĬons: 1. MSI's suite of applications is really well made, and BIOS is really easy to navigate.Ĥ. I had this happen to me, but I would have confused for a lot longer if not for the wonderful little debug LED.ģ. If you turn your computer on after installing this mobo and nothing comes up on your screen, DO NOT panic. I will never buy another mobo that doesn't have a debug LED. OC genie is probably one of the coolest things to come around in recent years.Ģ.

I think I paid about the same price for both mobos, and this motherboard is definitely the winner (nothing against asus, this just a great mobo).ġ. I came straight from a 5 year old motherboard with a nehalem i7, and despite asus' reputation for great reliable mobos, msi really handed it to them this time.
